What does the Forest School project cost include?
Forest School and the curriculum: Feedback from teachers confirms that Forest School links into most areas of the EYFS, KS1, KS2, KS3 curriculum. Many teachers have commented that Forest School sessions can really help to bring the curriculum to life. Forest School sessions are designed to meet the needs of visual, auditory, kinaesthetic and reflective learners as practitioners are trained in how to meet various learning needs and are encouraged to link sessions to the curriculum.
The Forest School curriculum: Forest School sessions are structured on a process curriculum model although there is no set curriculum for Forest School. This enables Forest School practitioners, within a skills framework, to use their own knowledge, skills, experience and creativity to plan projects with individual participants in mind.
What happens at a Forest School?
The information below gives an indication of the structure of a Forest school session which may differ depending upon time constraints and the group.
What activities might we do at Forest School?
How long are Forest School projects?
Forest School projects vary in length and time per session depending on group need and, often, timetabling! A six week project is the minimum recommended length for a project.
How do settings timetable Forest School projects?
Settings use a variety of approaches. Often settings timetable a project to run over a half term. Recommended group sizes for a Forest School session are roughly half a class (up to 15 children depending upon their learning needs), so often half go in the morning and half in the afternoon. It is also possible for a group to attend full day sessions. Many settings also look at how the children can access a Forest School project again later in their school career.
How do I book or find out more?
Please note: the group MUST be accompanied at all times by a minimum of 2 members of setting/ school staff. Please see information supplied upon booking.
