Training

Wild Wood Activities Outdoor and Woodland Play Skills Training (equivalent to Forest Schools Level 2)

Everything you need to confidently and competently assist a Level 3 qualified Forest Schools leader as well lead your own low level woodland play and Forest School activities on low risk sites. Suitable for those working in early years, primary and secondary school settings, the Wild Wood Activities Outdoor and Woodland Play Skills training will inspire you!

The Training:
Gives you the opportunity to gain the skills, ideas and confidence to work with groups in the outdoors, specifically in woodland environments.Areas covered include:

  • Shelter building (natural and man made)
  • Woodland risk assessment
  • Safe tool use
  • Fire safety and lighting
  • Creative games and activities
  • Programme planning
  • Learning styles and theory


The Certifcate:
A certificate of attendance is issued by Wild Wood Activities on completion of:

  • The Wild Wood Activities three day training course and assessment (half day).
  • Woodland and Outdoor Play Skills portfolio (including a 500 word observation of a Forest School session you have supported)
  • Paediatric First Aid course (2 day)
  • And, for Derbyshire participants, the Derbyshire County Council half day risk assessment course (this is at no extra cost if you if your setting already buys the DCC Health and Safety package)


The location:
Courses can be run at a variety of sites already used by Wild Wood Activities (for 2010 training dates and locations, please follow the link below).
Courses can also be run on a woodland site you plan to use in the future (this can include wooded school grounds), or Wild Wood Activities can locate a site near to your setting (this may incur extra costs). Please contact Lauren from Wild Wood Activities to discuss.The Cost:£275 per participant for the Wild Wood Activities training.This price does not include the First Aid or DCC Risk Assessment training
